Visiting Monteverde is a trip like no other! The cloud forest is
situated 1,440m (4,662ft) above sea level. Due to this elevation
Monteverde's forests are blessed with high amount of precipitation
resulting in incredibly lush jungles, and a unique mix of flora
and fauna. The cloud forest boasts a wide variety of plant and
animal life, including sloths and hundreds of species of orchids
endemic to the area.
Along with hiking to experience the amazing nature that surrounds
you, visitors seeking more adrenaline can also zip-line through
the canopy or take a horse trek across the mountains. After a day
of adventure there's plenty of wonderful restaurants and a wide
variety of accommdation to enjoy in the lovely town of Santa Elena
- the closest town to the cloud forest.

Taco Taco Taqueria
This is a great place to go for delicious Mexican food - tacos (of course), tamales, elotes, burritos, bowls and salads. They also have a great selection of plant-based food for non-meat eaters. Plus great beers and cocktails!

The staff are friendly, the food is super tasty, and the portions are big - what more could you ask for?!
Don Luis
Don Luis is a lovely restaurant for dinner, options include meat and seafood dishes, pizzas and some vegetarian option. Prices for the meat and seafood can be a little more than elsewhere in Santa Elena, but the food is worth it!

This restaurant / coffee shop in the heart of Santa Elena is a fantastic place to go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! The menu is comprised of mediterranean and local dishes, and are packed with flavour!
